Write a 4 – 5 page (1 pg = 1 full pg. 1000 words min.) paper in which you address the following topic, using the readings from class to provide evidence for your argument.
Topic: Demonstrate how water influences (or has influenced) communities or their formation in San Antonio or the Southwest area. (You may write about the past or present, or both.) This topic requires you to analyze the concepts of “influence” and “community.” Your essay will at least implicitly offer a definition of these concepts. (Is the influence positive or negative? What is a community or how is a community defined?) Since this is a complicated issue, make sure you address any ambivalence in the relationship between water and San Antonio.
This is more like a research paper (without the research) than a synthesis paper, so you are not directly comparing different authors’ arguments. Instead, you are generating your own argument (ideas about San Antonio, water, and community), and using sources for support and examples.
