Global marketplace

As the global marketplace becomes increasingly more competitive, it is incumbent upon human resources to broaden its strategic mission and become a strategic partner with executive staff. This requires human resources to have a detailed understanding of not only the human resources field, but the strengths and challenges of its organization, and the complexities of its industry. Through these units of knowledge, human resources can maximize its value by providing competent advice and counsel to its organization as it strives to achieve its strategic objectives.

The comprehensive Final Paper comprises four parts, with Parts 1, 2, and 3 submitted during the first three weeks of the course. In Week 5, a cohesive final paper will be due that includes Part 4, an executive summary, and the previously submitted Parts 1, 2, and 3. This final paper should be eight to ten pages and should incorporate any comments or suggestions made by the instructor on Parts 1, 2, and 3.

Focus of the Final Paper
In your final project, you are to choose a major problem/issue affecting an organization of your choice, and then utilize your detailed knowledge of human resources and strategic planning to develop a comprehensive plan that minimizes, and hopefully eliminates, this threat to your chosen organizations ability to meet its long-range organizational goals and objectives. The components of this comprehensive project are as follows:

Part 1 Overview of Organization/Problem (due in Week 1): In a 2-3 page paper, provide an overview of the organization and the problem/issue that challenges that organization. Next, detail how the problem/issue affects (or can affect) the future viability of the organization. Finally, discuss the principle role of human resources in an organization and how human resources can provide critical advice and counsel to the organization in addressing this challenge.

Part 2 Environment Analysis (due in Week 2): Optimal solutions are determined when a researcher has a thorough understanding of a company and its industry, along with the strengths and weaknesses that impact its future viability. In the second part of your plan, perform a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunity, and Threats) on your chosen organization and provide an analysis of these results in light of the problem or issue under study. Be attentive to identifying how the problem or issue impacts the organization and its competitive position within the industry. The paper should be 2-3 pages.

Part 3 Financial Analysis (due in Week 3): Nearly every problem or issue confronting an organization has a financial or budgetary impact. For instance, staff turnover has not only a direct cost on recruitment expenses, training costs, and productivity, but also an indirect cost related to the loss of organizational learning. In Part 3, detail the financial implications to the organization related to your problem or issue, including the additional costs that may arise if the problem or issue is not resolved effectively. The paper should be 1-2 pages.

Part 4 - Recommendations (due in Week 5): The final part of your comprehensive project incorporates your recommendations. Based on your work in Parts 1, 2, and 3, provide 2-3 recommendations to organizational leadership that would resolve the problem/issue in question. Be sure to detail any challenges the organization should consider in implementing your recommendations (culture, motivation, etc.) and your strategy to overcome these challenges. The recommendations section should be 2-3 pages.

The Final Paper due at the end of Week 5 will comprise Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4. It should begin with an Executive Summary, which is an abbreviated capture of the entire paper and as such should touch upon all major points while engaging the reader. The final paper should be 8-10 pages.

Note that some of the information related to this project may not be readily available in course materials, requiring you to research contemporary management trends in the public sector.

Writing the Final Paper
The Final Paper:

Must be eight to ten double-spaced pages in length, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
Must include a title page with the following:
Title of paper

Course name and number
Instructors name
Date submitted
Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.

Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.

You should provide INTRODUCTION to the essay which focusses on what the essay is about, provide context and responds to the essay title.

The introduction will inform the reader/marker about the content of the essay (250 words).



THE MAIN BODY OF THE ESSAY

Involves using the essential elements of public health theory and practice and critically comparing and analysing two activities/programmes to improve public health in different regions/countries of the world. You will reflect on this and justify further recommendations in a region/country familiar to you.

Racial and Gender Equality

Jefferson wrote that “all men are created equal” in the Declaration of Independence. Students often struggle to understand how we are equal. What Jefferson did not mean was that we are all equal in kind. For example, we are not promised economic equality, or athletic equality, or academic equality. What Jefferson meant is that ideally, we are each equal before the law. This is why the statue of Lady Justice is often blindfolded.



This leads us to ask, how do we define freedom? One definition is, ‘We each have the right, as protected by government, to compete for the opportunities which we are qualified to pursue.’



For example, I may desperately want to run the final leg of the Women’s Olympic relay dash. However, I am not qualified to compete for numerous reasons including the fact that I am not a woman, I am a slow runner, I am not in adequate shape, and I am middle-aged. In other words, I am not qualified for this opportunity. My rights have not been violated if I am denied this opportunity.



Please note the highlight of the term, ‘compete.’ There is no promise of an outcome. For example, no one promises happiness; however, the right to the pursuit of happiness is found in the Declaration of Independence.



An inevitable by-product of competition is a failure. Failure is unbiased feedback that we need to work harder. When you fail at something and then decide to work harder in order to achieve a goal — that is your personal achievement. It is a victory which no one can ever take away from you.

Explanations of graphs/tables should be included in the body of the paper. The paper must be Times New Roman size 12 font, with one inch margins. Standard APA style rules apply and clarity is important to your grade. The final assignment is only submitted once for credit. The objective of the assignment is to demonstrate the application of microeconomic theory as presented in your textbook to a current topic you have chosen. It is the application of the theory that is important; this is not just a research paper which describes a current situation with some economic features or a history paper about an economic event. The selected topic must be one that relates to microeconomics; that is, any of the subjects listed in the course syllabus, for example, and would include supply and demand, elasticity, cost of production, international trade (as examples). Macroeconomic topics and analysis are not acceptable for a microeconomics class. Provide enough information and detail on your chosen topic to serve as the basis for economic analysis. The topic must be current; references should be less than 6 months old. An analysis of some past event is not acceptable. As an example, consider the market for crude oil – if you chose articles from 2014 you will have a completely different paper (OPEC in control at $150 per barrel) than today (OPEC is/is not in control at $52 per barrel), so please be very careful to make sure your resources are current. Show how the theory you’ve learned from the course and presented in your text applies to or explains the current situation. The analysis must include a written explanation and a graphical analysis. The graph should be included in the appendix. Do not include any graphs or tables in the body of your paper. Write a short conclusion. This might include some predictions for the future.

The paper should include the following:
• Title page, including your name, the class (Econ 202), the topic or theory and the date.
• Section Headings – strongly encouraged
• Citations – cite all references in the body of the text and in the Reference list. All sources must have an author and a date of publication. The date of retrieval from the Internet is not the date of publication. Sources such as EconEdLink.com, Wikipedia, Investopedia, Dictionary.com, or any source ending in .com or pedia (again which does not have an author or date of publication) must not be used as a reference for this assignment.
• Plagiarism – Do not copy text from another author or Web source unless it is quoted; this includes any papers you may have written for another class and submitted through SafeAssign. It will show up as plagiarized.
• Appendices – use for any tables or graphs identified in the body of your paper

Please answer the following 7 scenarios. Think about what you would do in the following situations and record your answer.



1. While escorting a patient to the exam room, she asks you if her husband's test results are back yet. You know that the results are back, but you don't have the permission to give the results to anyone except the patient himself.



2. You notice the constant ringing of telephones in the office. You notice that the receptionist is talking on the phone. But several times during the day, she is involved in personal calls. In the meantime, the ringing telephones are ignored.



3. One of your patients is a friend of your mothers. She's at the doctor's office to find out if she is pregnant. After she leaves, her pregnancy test comes back as negative. You've been unable to reach her by telephone to give her the results. The next day you see her at the shopping mall with her family.



4. You realize that your neighbor is a patient at your practicum site. You see her medical record and are wondering why she always looks so tired all the time. Her records are right there and no one is looking or watching.



5. During your practicum, a patient mentions that he would prefer that no one other than his physician be in the room during his medical procedure. It's a procedure you've never seen before and you would like to observe. The patient will be under the influence of medications and probably won't remember what happened during the procedure.



6. You're short on money and need some antibiotics for your child. Her prescription has run out but there is a large supply of the same drug in your site's sample room. You notice that samples are given to patients free of charge.



7. While on your practicum, you notice that an employee has left work 15min early every day for the past week. Two other employees who suspect this behavior but have not witnessed it themselves ask you to report it to the site supervisor.
