Ideal classroom

Choose a grade level between PK – 6th grade and become an “expert” in designing your ideal classroom. Research classrooms that are found in your chosen grade level by viewing pictures found on the internet, researching YouTube videos and/or visiting real classrooms. Look for content areas, centers, DAP in the classrooms that you view. Create a virtual presentation using PowerPoint that showcases your ideal classroom and displays and explains content areas and centers. Be creative!



Use the following guidelines to set up your Classroom Showcase:

1. Format (3 points)

a. Introduce yourself, your classroom, and your chosen grade level.

b. Use videos, video links, voice over, photos and/or music in your project.

c. Use creativity and organization in your project.

2. Classroom Description and layout (5 points)

a. Create a detailed graphic organizer sketch including the classrooms engaging and independent features.

b. Orally describe the layout of the classroom and discuss general information that provides a description of the classroom, including grade level.

c. Orally discuss how the classroom addresses social/cognitive/physical aspects of development.

3. Provide 3 centers examples (language, science, math, social studies, art, music, etc.), and orally discuss each center SEPARATELY. (Use the following guidelines for EACH of the centers you choose. You will complete the following list 3 times for EACH of your chosen centers.) (12 points)

a. Give a description of materials that may be found in the center. Make sure to include books that are appropriate for the center.

b. Describe 1 developmentally appropriate activity (DAP) that takes place in the center that makes it a well-rounded classroom where young children learn.

c. List and describe the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) that are covered in each center.
